April 2018.

Around 100 people attended celebrations of the platinum or 70th year anniversary of the Espanola Lions Club held at the Pinewood Motor Inn.
The evening was held to celebrate their Charter & Awards Night, as well as to present several organizations and/or individuals with commemorative certificates for their support of Lionism over the years.
A special presentation was made to Dario Laurenti who has served for almost 30 years and has been involved in many Lion initiatives including the popular local Senior Dinner.
He was presented with the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award – well deserved. Lions Clubs world-wide recognize outstanding individuals by bestowing on them an award that is named for its founder, Melvin Jones. This award is the highest form of recognition and embodies humanitarian ideas consistent with the nature and purpose of Lionism. The recipient of this award becomes a model of exemplary service to his club and the community which it serves.
Marcel Rancourt was also presented with his 40-year pin.
Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing MP, Carol Hughes, also presented a certificate of appreciation to the club for their decades of dedication on behalf of the Canadian government.
